Ooh! A new scam!

Tell me that this isn't just the latest version of the Nigerian internet scam. I'm looking for an apartment, and found an ad on Craigslist for a 2BR sublet in Astoria for $850, no fee. Okay, $850 sounds a little too good to be true for a 2BR in Astoria, but there's always the chance it's in a rent-stabilized building. Emailing didn't hurt, so I figured, what the hell.

Here's the response I got:

Hello,

I really appreciate your kind mail towards my apartment for rent,
i would like you to know that it is still very much available for rent, i am only willing to give it out to a Good and Responsible person.
Its indeed a lovely and comfortable apartment.

Fees :

Security / Deposit : $350

Wide Parking place is available.

I would like you to know that i am giving this apartment out to you because i just relocated to West Africa, Nigeria for the Missionary work and have a 4 years course. so my wife and i have decided that we would be moving to our other home when we get back.
i would like you to send me the below details :

At the end of the month i would be enrolling for an Apartment manager, whom you would be paying the monthly rents to. Electric Bills and water bills have been paid for, so i would also need to send the receipts to you, would incase it would be needed.
I would like you to know that i am a very free minded person and would want you to express yourself to me. After i receive this details, i would get back to you soonest and then let you know my terms.

And unlike the ones that promise you millions if you send money to help someone get their inheritance out of the bank in Switzerland, this one doesn't rely so much on the greed of the target as the naivete. Because you'd have to be pretty naive to send someone money in Nigeria in order to get keys to an apartment in Astoria that you aren't allowed to see until you send the money to Nigeria.

But you know what really gave it away, aside from the overly-formal English? That wide parking space.
