Mike Huckabee's folksy quips may entertain conservative simpletons, so let them have their harmless jokes, BUT when they allude to assassination, I think he needs to simply SHUT. THE. FUCK. UP. Today at a National Rifle Association convention in Louisville, Kentucky, Huckabee joked about an offstage noise:

“That was Barack Obama, he just tripped off a chair, he's getting ready to speak. Somebody aimed a gun at him and he dove for the floor.”

I am sure Hucks would do the same thing if he were in such a circumstance.

UPDATE UPDATE: According to Rachel Maddow, who is filling in for Keith Olbermann on Countdown, Huckabee issued an apology.

"I made an off hand remark that was no way intended to offend or disparage Sen. Obama. I apologize that my comments were offensive. That was never my intention.

Ahh... See kids! All is better in the world when someone issues an apology for their remarks. It's like they never happened. I am sure we can accept the same apology for future remarks. See how easy it is. Say what you want, but issue a retraction. The world is grand!
