Lordy Begordy

This morning, President Bush attended the National Prayer Breakfast, which is, of course, one of my favorite annual American traditions, an occasion upon which I suspend my disbelief in a god long enough to pray: "Dear God, please free us from the burning stupidity of this Bush. Amen."

Bush explained the importance of his attending the National Prayer Breakfast:
Every President since Dwight Eisenhower has attended the National Prayer Breakfast -- and I am really proud to carry on that tradition. It's an important tradition, and I'm confident Presidents who follow me will do the same. The people in this room come from many different walks of faith. Yet we share one clear conviction: We believe that the Almighty hears our prayers -- and answers those who seek Him. That's what we believe; otherwise, why come?
Well said, Mr. President. You are, as always, a maestro of language, a man who ever reminds us that politics can be poetry.

H/T to Holden, who takes a moment to highlight the absurdity of "many walks of faith."
